Board of Trustees

The Fund is governed by a Board of Trustees consisting of representatives appointed by the various legislatures and by the Minister of Finance.

In terms of the Fund's Rules, the Board of Trustees is responsible for the overall governance and management of the Fund. Trustees hold a position of trust and act in the best interests of all members and beneficiaries at all times.

Responsibilities of the Board

The Board of Trustees is responsible for, among other things:

  • Ensuring that the Fund is managed and administered in accordance with its Rules and applicable legislation;
  • Appointing and overseeing the Fund's service providers (Administrator, Auditors, Investment Manager, Actuary, Legal Advisors);
  • Approving the Fund's investment policy and monitoring investment performance;
  • Exercising discretion in terms of Section 37C when allocating death benefits;
  • Ensuring that member communications and benefit statements are accurate and up to date;
  • Reporting to members through the Annual Report and other communications.
